Featurette Treatment!

As we are doing a music featurette (documentary'esk'), there will be a lot of different things included in our piece to make it original, interesting and enjoyable.

Thinking as an audience member, We like a featurette to be humourous, informative and professional. We would like to have lots of diverse information about the subject matter (band). We would like our programme to be active; chopping and changing, keeping the pace and momentum up- relating to the lives of who we are following.

In our featurette we will be including;
-Presenting- we want to add our own flare and thought using both of us to introduce different parts of the piece, it will create an informal and friendly approach to the certain 'chapters' of the featurette.
-Interviews- This will be one of the main features in our piece as this will introduce the band and people involved to the audience-which will let the audience relate to the band. The section will be very important as it will set up the rest of the shots, watching them on stage etc.
-archive footage- we want to contrast the technical/ professional Z1 camera shots with Rachel's hand-held camera- We believe this will create a more relatable feeling for the audience as it would almost look like anyone could have filmed it. Obviously the majority will be filmed on the Z1 to maintain the professional style.
-Montage- We definately want to include a montage at some point in the piece- We were even thinking producing some animation with shots over one of chosen band's track.

When thinking about production, we will obviously be aware of consent forms, permission plans where we film and copyright.

Group Project!! Our Proposal..

We have been assigned a group project to produce a 5-7 minute piece of filming of our choice; for example a documentary/fictional film etc, to a correct technical ability.

I am teaming up with Chloe, after brainstorming with different genres and ideas, we decided to go down the path of music. This lead us to create a short music featurette. We think it would be an effective documentary if we were to focus on one band, in which we would go into more depth about the band 'on-stage' and off. This featurette would be presenter lead, both Chloe and I would take part introducing different stages of the documentary.

We would like to use humour a lot in our featurette and the presenters would be a big part of this. We also want our piece to show a casual approach, but with sharp editing- we thought this would be a good contrast. We also hope to use animation as a montage over one of the tracks we will be including.

Our overall aim for this piece is to explore behind the scenes of a 'bands life' and to potentially show the audience what goes on behind the curtain as well as giving entertainment and information on an up and coming/ new bands.
